High-precision 0.5mm Type K thermocouple wire designed for accurate, repeatable temperature measurement in industrial heat-treating furnaces, kilns, and thermal processing equipment. Featuring high-purity positive (Chromel / KP) and negative (Alumel / KN) conductors, this wire guarantees Class 1 thermoelectric tolerance and long-term signal integrity under harsh oxidizing and inert furnace atmospheres.

The 0.5mm Type K thermocouple wire is the industry-benchmark temperature sensing conductor engineered for extreme thermal environments ranging from -200°C to +1260°C. Composed of a non-magnetic Nickel-Chromium positive leg (KP) and a magnetic Nickel-Alumel negative leg (KN), this wire exhibits a linear EMF-to-temperature characteristic with a sensitivity of approximately 41 µV/°C.
Manufactured using closed-loop vacuum induction melting and precision multi-die cold drawing, our 0.5mm diameter thermocouple conductors maintain uniform metallurgical structure, ultra-tight diameter tolerances (±0.008 mm), and consistent grain boundary stability. This ensures zero EMF deviation, superior mechanical ductility for flexible sensor fabrication, and high resistance to oxidation and sulfur corrosion in industrial vacuum, inert gas, and continuous atmospheric furnace systems.

A1: The recommended maximum continuous operating temperature in oxidizing or clean inert furnace atmospheres is 1100°C. For short-term peak exposure, the wire can withstand up to 1260°C. For reducing, sulfidizing, or alternating oxidizing/reducing atmospheres, protective ceramic or metal sheathing is advised to prevent "green rot" selective oxidation.
A2: The positive leg (KP / Chromel) is non-magnetic, slightly stiffer, and typically has an oxidized or bright metallic finish. The negative leg (KN / Alumel) is noticeably magnetic and contains aluminum and manganese additions. A simple magnet test readily separates the two conductors.
A3: Our wire conforms strictly to Class 1 / Special Tolerance limits, offering an accuracy of ±1.5°C in the range of -40°C to 375°C, and ±0.4% of the measured temperature from 375°C to 1000°C, which is superior to standard commercial grades.
A4: Yes. The annealed wire possesses high weldability. Common junction welding techniques include tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding, laser welding, and capacitive discharge welding. A protective argon shield during welding is recommended to form a clean, oxide-free spherical junction bead.
